THE YOUNG ACTOR PROGRAM
For young actors, success in the industry involves the whole family, especially parents. Our six-week Professional Exploratory Course gives young actors and their parents an opportunity to look inside the busy film and television industry in Georgia and around the Southeast.
WE WANT THE BEST FOR YOU AND YOUR FAMILY – SHOP AROUND!
You’re the parent of a bright, funny, talented, kid– the kind of child who might do well in the movies and on TV. But how can you know for sure? Even when a child expresses interest in entertainment, can you be certain that their interest will last before investing heavily in their development?
When it comes to our children, virtually nothing is certain. However, it doesn’t take thousands of dollars to gauge a child’s long-term interest or talent. At Actor’s Breakthrough, young actors and their families train for in the areas of commercials, comedy, and drama. Your young actor’s tuition also includes business-of-the-business training for parents about the inner workings of the industry and how to manage a child actor’s growth and career.
Wherever you choose for your child to train, be careful. As the entertainment business grows in Atlanta, so do the number of unscrupulous schools, agencies, and scams. Due diligence is a must before you enroll your child in any acting school, competition, or program. Many so-called acting coaches teach because they lack the talent and/or skills to win roles. Resumes can be forged. The only way to thoroughly vet a coach’s professional on-camera experience is to visit the online movie/TV database imdb.com (just enter a name to view a list of verified professional credits.) Some schools claim to have a track record in the industry, when in fact, they and their instructors have little or no real industry experience whatever. Several of the national “modeling schools” with recognizable names ask for expensive long-term contracts but offer little in the way of viable actor training based on current industry standards. Perhaps, worst among these offenders are those who, via the non-secular name of their organization, claim spiritual “legitimacy”, when, in fact, they provide virtually no training and yet demand thousands of dollars in exchange for your child’s participation in regional and national talent competitions– competitions which yield little in the way of real career opportunities for children and families.
Due diligence means shopping around so that you can make the best choices for your family. Once you’ve done your research, give us a call. We would love to meet you and your young actor.
Best
